REGULAR MEETING – 6:00 PM           



Mayor Grimshaw, Trustees: Emery, Linerode, Hotchkiss and Harter, John Power, Greg Britton, Mark Backus, Attorney Mowry (arrived 6:10) and Jack & Allie Proud (arrived 6:52)      

Mayor Grimshaw called the Regular meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 6, 2017 were approved on motion of Trustee Emery with the correction of the spelling of Trustee Harter’s name, all aye.

The following claims were approved for payment on motion of Trustee Hotchkiss, all aye:

General Fund Abstract:

Sewer Fund Abstract:

Reports were given by Mayor Grimshaw on behalf of Arthur Babcock Zoning/Code Enforcement Officer, John Power/Village Administrator, and Greg Britton /Water & WWTP Superintendent

On motion of Trustee Linerode, seconded Trustee Emery, all aye, the following funds were transferred:

Water Fund

From: 1990.4 Contingency $5,000.00
To: 8340.4 Transmission & Distribution $5,000.00


The Village Board resolved to hold the Village Election on March 20, 2018, 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Village Hall, 3236 Main Street, Mexico, New York 13114 on motion of Trustee Emery, seconded Trustee Harter, all aye.


The following were appointed Inspectors of Election on motion of Trustee Hotchkiss, seconded Trustee Harter, all aye: Lois Beyer & Karen Grimshaw


On motion of Trustee Hotchkiss, seconded Trustee Harter, all aye, the Public Hearing on Local Law #1 of 2018 “To override the tax levy limit established in General Municipal Law Section 3-C” will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in the Village Hall, 3236 Main Street, Mexico New York 13114


On motion of Trustee Emery, seconded Trustee Linerode, all aye, the Village Board approved the Inter-Municipal Agreement with the Town of Mexico effective December 11, 2017 for the use of the water meter reader equipment.


On motion of Trustee Harter, seconded Trustee Linerode, all aye, the following School Choice Week Proclamation was passed:



 Village of Mexico School Choice Week

WHEREAS, all children in Village of Mexico should have access to the highest-quality education possible; and,

WHEREAS, Village of Mexico recognizes the important role that an effective education plays in preparing all students in Village of Mexico to be successful adults; and,

quality education is critically important to the economic vitality of Village of Mexico; and,

WHEREAS, Village of Mexico is home to a multitude of high quality public and nonpublic schools from which parents can choose for their children, in addition to families who educate their children in the home; and

WHEREAS, educational variety not only helps to diversify our economy, but also enhances the vibrancy of our community; and,

WHEREAS, Village of Mexico has many high-quality teaching professionals in all types of school settings who are committed to educating our children; and,

WHEREAS, School Choice Week is celebrated across the country by millions of students, parents, educators, schools and organizations to raise awareness of the need for effective educational options;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Terry Grimshaw do hereby recognize January 21-27, 2018 as Village of Mexico School Choice Week, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.


Mayor Grimshaw presented John “Jack” Proud with a plaque on behalf of the Town and Village of Mexico for his 22 years of service as District 7 County Legislature.

The meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m. on motion of Trustee Linerode, all aye.
